Nagata School is located in the city of Sakai, Ibaraki Prefecture. It is a public primary school with approximately 300 students. The school has a historical connection to Argentina through Arturo Álvarez Montenegro, an Argentine diplomat who dedicated several years of his career to strengthening ties with Japan.
The school holds a great affection for the Argentine Republic. In this context, for the past 36 years, the school has celebrated Argentina Day, an occasion on which it invites the Ambassador of the Argentine Republic to Japan to participate in the school's activities.
The most recent edition of Argentina Day at Nagata School took place in December 2025. On that occasion, the Ambassador of the Argentine Republic to Japan, Eduardo Tempone, traveled to Sakai and participated in activities organized by Nagata School. For more details about the event, it is suggested to visit the publication from this Embassy titled: "Argentina Day in Sakai, Ibaraki," December 25, 2025.
