Distance Learning System (SEAD)

The Distance Education System (SEAD) provides Primary and Secondary Education to students who are residing abroad. In this way, they can continue practicing the national language, maintain a sense of belonging to their country of origin, and facilitate their reintegration into the Argentine educational system upon returning to the government.

SEAD is aimed at Argentine citizens or children of Argentines under 18 years of age who reside abroad. Therefore, it is not possible to take courses under this educational program while living in Argentina.

It is mandatory for students also to attend a local educational institution, as established by the National Education Law No. 26,206 for minors under 18; this is because SEAD is an optional and supplementary service that does not replace the aforementioned schooling.

Students who have completed one or more bimesters or trimesters in Argentina will be considered at the time of enrollment.

The academic program includes the same subjects and content as the Common Education System.

At the end of the school year, SEAD issues a certificate of completion for the year or period completed, with the same academic value as those granted by educational institutions in the different jurisdictions of the country.

Upon returning to the country, students rejoin the year they were attending or the next higher year if they have completed the course.

The secondary diploma awarded by SEAD is a High School Diploma with a focus on Social Sciences and Humanities and is nationally recognized.

The enrollment period runs from February to July each year.

To register at SEAD, it is necessary to present:

Photocopy of the student's Birth Certificate.

- Photocopy of National Identity Document or Passport.

- Fully completed registration form.

- Proof of employment or residence abroad of the father or mother to verify residency. In the case of a student exchange, a note from the school responsible for the exchange confirming the period of travel abroad.

- For Primary Education: Photocopy of the report card/certificate of the last completed grade in Argentina or abroad.

- For Secondary Education: Photocopy of the partial transcript of studies completed in Argentina or abroad, duly legalized.

- In the case of students who are absent once the school year has started: Report card/certificate of the school period (bimester/trimester) approved in Argentina up to the date of leaving the country.

Registration is done by email, sending the aforementioned documentation to the email sead-secretaria@educacion.gob.ar. Once the registration process is completed, students must request the list of required bibliography for the year they will be attending, which they will need to obtain before starting the course. Once registered, students will be granted access to the virtual classroom, where they can access study materials and the activity forums proposed by the SEAD teachers. Evaluations are held every two months. The calendar with the evaluation dates will be provided once registration is completed and will also be available on the educational platform.

Regarding the mode of assessments, due to the current health situation, and until the reopening of Argentine Embassies abroad and the offices of SEAD at the Ministry of Education of the Nation are regularized, assessments will be conducted online through the SEAD study platform on the scheduled dates.

Any changes to the assessment modality will be communicated through the platform, as well as via the email addresses provided by the families.

In accordance with SEAD regulations, students enrolled in the Distance Education Service (SEAD) to obtain the Secondary Education Completion Certificate must obligatorily take the 4th assessment of the 5th year at an Argentine Diplomatic Representation or at the SEAD headquarters, in order to validate the year completed in the Service.

In view of the current health situation, students who are unable to take the 5th-year exams at the Argentine Diplomatic Representation in their place of residence or who are in the Argentine Republic, may do so through a virtual and synchronous exam modality designed for this purpose.
