Cooperation in Sports

In 2016, the then Ministry of Education and Sports of the Nation and the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan signed a memorandum of cooperation in sports.

The sports-related actions carried out by the Embassy are generally categorized into two groups. On the one hand, there is support for athletes, institutions, and sports federations of the Argentine Republic visiting Japan to participate in various competitions. In this regard, it is noteworthy that in recent years, the national teams in men's volleyball, women's volleyball, futsal, and women's football, as well as various Argentine athletes in boxing, tennis, golf, chess, and martial arts, have participated in competitions in Japan.

On the other hand, the Embassy organizes, sponsors, and conducts various competitions and cups in collaboration with local institutions to promote the country's image and Argentine sports in Japan. These include football championships, youth football, futsal, turf, and chess, among others.
